Unless something dies, it cannot be born again.
"He is no fool that gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot
The purpose of this blog is so that the FPCD Youth have a place to communicate their Lenten travels. Each one of us has decided to give up at least one thing that is dear to us. We have taken something out of our lives but it is also important that we add something else in. Please blog about what it is like to give up something that means a lot to you.
Lent officially beings on Wednesady March 7th and ends on April 24th. We will have an amazing day to refelect on the resurrection as God raises us to new life as well. Join us on this journey.

Ash Wednesday, March 9. You guys keep me on track for giving up computer games and jelly beans, and memorizing (again) Colossians 1:15-20.
ReplyDeleteAs a kid I thought giving up something for Lent was a bad idea, sort of trying to earn my way to God's favor. But finally I realized that giving something up for a while is a way to not take it for granted--and taking things for granted is a kind of opposite of being thankful for it. So giving something up for Lent is a way to express thanks for it. (It's also a handy way to break an addiction.)
