Testing. Testing. 1.2.3...
I'm seeing if this blog really works after sitting idle for a year.
I've been thinking about Lent today, about what I want give up or take on. I had to laugh when I told my husband that two Lents ago I gave up being grumpy, and he replied, "And how did that work out for you?!?" :-)
Then we went on to discuss whether or not it was required to make known what one wants to give up or take on. He claimed if you didn't divulge, then you aren't letting anyone challenge you if you fail, or even determine if you succeed. But who wants to get called out for failing?? Not me!
And who wants to brag if they succeed? Jesus warned about people like that.
On the other hand, maybe the real problem is an unwillingness to be vulnerable.
I'll have to think about it while I'm eating jambalaya.

pretty funny Linda. You raise a good question though...do we have to tell someone what we're giving up? I think it's good to have certain things we share and other things we keep between us and the Lord. That way their a genuine relationship developing. Either way, I'm sure God is pleased with the thought.
